White Friday preparation decides whether late November is your best trading week of the year or three weeks of apologies. In 2026, White Friday falls on Friday 27 November, and most Saudi retailers open their online deals around 20 November. That leaves about three weeks to settle pricing, stock, invoicing and the support inbox.
The date needs no guessing. White Friday follows the American Thanksgiving holiday, which lands on the fourth Thursday of November. In 2026 that Thursday is 26 November, so White Friday is Friday 27 November, and the promotions usually run through Monday 30 November.
Why a discount weekend needs a three week run up
The hard part of a sales season is not the discount. It is that every part of the business receives several times its normal volume in the same forty eight hours, and the weakest link decides what the customer remembers. Orders arrive faster than stock figures update, invoices queue behind a slow connection, and the inbox fills with messages that all begin with "where is my order".

Work backwards from 20 November, not from 27 November. The soft launch is the real deadline, because that is when customers first test your checkout, your invoice and your reply time. Anything still broken on 20 November will be broken at five times the volume a week later.
Split the work into three weeks, each with one owner and one definition of done.
| Week | Dates | Focus | Done when |
|---|---|---|---|
| Week 1 | 5 to 12 November | Prices, discounts and stock | One approved price list, stock counted on promoted lines |
| Week 2 | 13 to 19 November | Invoicing, VAT and payments | Test invoices issued and checked end to end |
| Week 3 | 20 to 26 November | Support rota and early deals live | Shift plan signed, canned replies written |
| Peak | 27 to 30 November | Trade and monitor | Daily numbers reviewed each morning |
Week one: lock prices, discounts and stock
Start with a single price list that every person works from. In a discount season the most expensive mistake is a quotation or an invoice issued at a price nobody approved, usually because a salesperson was reading last week's sheet or a message thread. Decide the discount for each product line, record it with a start date and an end date, and make that record the only source anyone quotes from.
Then treat stock as a commitment rather than an estimate. Count what you physically hold on the lines you plan to promote, and set a reserve level you will not sell below, so you do not oversell an item that takes four weeks to restock. Overselling is the fastest way to turn a sales weekend into a refund weekend, and it costs you the review as well as the order.
Three details that get missed every year:
- Bundles and gifts with purchase need their own stock lines, or the gift runs out before the product does.
- Delivery promises should be widened for the peak days. A two day promise made on 27 November and broken on 1 December creates a complaint that costs more than the margin.
- Agree who may approve an off list discount, and cap it. Without a cap, the weekend margin leaks one approval at a time.
Week two: invoicing that survives peak volume
Retail volume on a discount weekend is almost all business to consumer, which means simplified tax invoices. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority describes a simplified tax invoice as one "usually issued by a business to a consumer (B2C)" that contains all the required simplified invoice elements, so the pressure point is whether your system can issue thousands of them without a person retyping anything.

Check the chain before the rush, not during it. Phase 1 of e-invoicing, the generation and storage stage, began on 4 December 2021, and Phase 2, the integration stage, began on 1 January 2023 and requires the electronic solution to be integrated with the Authority's systems. If your business is in an active wave, run test invoices now and watch what happens when one fails: who sees the error, and how long before someone acts on it.
Discounts also change the arithmetic on the invoice. VAT at 15% applies to the amount the customer actually pays, so the discount is applied first and the tax is calculated on the reduced figure. Issue three test invoices, a plain discounted item, a bundle, and an order with delivery charged separately, and confirm each total by hand once.
Finally, decide now how a return will be documented. A cancelled or returned order is corrected with a credit note that references the original invoice, not by deleting the invoice or issuing a second one. Write that into the process this week, because the returns arrive in the first week of December when everyone is tired.
Week three: staff the inbox before the deals go live
By 20 November the commercial and financial work should be finished, and the remaining question is human: who answers, how fast, and what they may decide alone. Peak volume is not only more messages. It is the same five questions repeated hundreds of times, which is good news, because five answers can be written in advance.

Build the rota around the hours that actually spike. Traffic in Saudi Arabia climbs in the evening and again late at night during a deal weekend, so a team that logs off at 5pm leaves the busiest hours unanswered. Cover the evening, and give the overnight shift a clear rule for what can wait until morning.
A shared help desk system for customer support matters more in these weeks than at any other time of year, because it keeps every question in one queue with a priority, a status and an owner instead of scattered across personal inboxes. Daftarix turns each question into a ticket in a shared inbox, lets you mark what is urgent, route it to the right person, and see the customer's deals, invoices and earlier tickets inside the conversation, in Arabic or English.
Write the canned replies this week: order status, stock gone, discount not applied, delivery delay, return request. Each should be two or three sentences with a clear next step. Then agree the authority limits, for example that any agent may approve a return within the stated policy, while anything above a set amount goes to a named manager. We covered the same pattern for a different demand spike in our guide to getting sales and support ready for Riyadh Season.
The 27 to 30 November run sheet
On the days themselves, stop building and start watching. A short, repeated routine beats improvisation.
- Every morning, read three numbers: orders taken, invoices issued, and tickets still open from yesterday. If invoices lag orders, stop and fix that first.
- Check first response time at midday and again at 9pm. If it is drifting, move someone from another task into the queue.
- Watch the top three promoted lines against the stock reserve, and pull an item from the promotion before it sells past zero.
- Keep one person outside the queue to handle the escalations, rather than pulling whoever is nearest.
- Log every complaint reason in a single list. That list is next year's checklist.
After the weekend: returns, credit notes and the real numbers
The season is not over when the discounts end. Early December brings the returns, the payment disputes and the occasional formal complaint. The Ministry of Commerce runs an electronic service for receiving a commercial complaint, and a customer who cannot get an answer from you will use it, so answering within your own stated time is the cheapest form of compliance.
Reconcile properly before the month closes. Match orders to invoices to payments, issue the credit notes for returns against the original invoices, and check that discounted sales were taxed on the discounted amount. Mismatches found in December are a small correction, while the same mismatches found in a VAT return are an expensive one.
Then hold a one hour review while the detail is fresh. Three questions are enough: what sold, what broke, and what we will prepare earlier next year. Write the answers next to this year's dates so the next White Friday starts from evidence rather than memory.
Frequently asked questions
When is White Friday 2026 in Saudi Arabia?
White Friday 2026 is Friday 27 November. It follows the fourth Thursday of November, which is 26 November in 2026. Most online deals start around 20 November and continue through Monday 30 November.
How early should White Friday preparation start?
Three weeks is a realistic minimum for a small team, working backwards from the soft launch around 20 November rather than from 27 November. Pricing and stock need the first week, invoicing and payment testing the second, and the support rota the third.
Does a discount change what my tax invoice must show?
The invoice requirements do not change for a sales season, but the figures do. VAT at 15% is calculated on the amount the customer actually pays after the discount, so the discounted price comes first and the tax follows. Check the required invoice elements on the Authority's e-invoicing pages before the season starts.
How do I handle returns from a discount weekend?
Document the refund with a credit note that references the original invoice, keeping the link between the two, and apply the same return policy you published with the offer. Deleting or reissuing the original invoice creates a gap that is painful to explain later.
How many support agents do we need for the peak days?
Estimate from your own history rather than a rule of thumb. Take the tickets you handled on your busiest normal day, multiply by the uplift you saw in your last promotion, and divide by what one agent closes in a shift. Then add one person who stays out of the queue to handle escalations.
Get ready before 20 November
White Friday rewards the business that answers fastest and invoices cleanly, not the one with the deepest discount. If your support messages are still spread across several inboxes three weeks before the season, that is the first thing to fix. Book a demo and we will show you how Daftarix keeps sales, invoicing and support in one place.
